ONE SHORTCUT. A LITTLE MORE FLOW.

Think it. Say it.
Keep going.

From a quick reply to a longer train of thought, Whisper Bro gives your words a path from your voice to your Mac.

  1. 01
    ⌃⌥space

    Hold your shortcut.

Click where you want to write. Hold Control + Option + Space to start recording.

  2. 02

    Say it your way.

A little waveform and timer let you know you’re recording. Keep holding through pauses.

  3. 03

    Release. And carry on.

The app transcribes your recording, applies your word rules, then copies and requests a paste at your cursor.

Automatic pasting needs Accessibility permission and a compatible text field. Your transcript is also copied to the clipboard.

THE LITTLE DETAILS MAKE IT YOURS.

Your names.
Your words.
Your way.

People’s names, familiar phrases, that sign-off you type every day. Give them a home, so your next dictation feels a little more like you.

01 / THE WHOLE RECORDING

Your pauses stay yours.

Recording continues while you hold the shortcut. After release, the saved audio supplies the final transcription, rather than just the last live preview. Longer recordings use the installed long-form engine when available, or overlapping audio chunks.

02 / PERSONAL BY DESIGN

A home on your Mac.

Your history, word rules, and drafts are stored locally. Apple Speech runs on-device when supported; some languages and configurations may use Apple’s online service. No account with Whisper Bro is needed.

03 / WORDS, WITH YOUR RULES

Personal rules. Predictable results.

Dictionary substitutions, snippet expansion, and optional filler removal and simple punctuation are local rules. Whisper Bro doesn’t use an LLM to rewrite your meaning, and it doesn’t run OpenAI’s Whisper model.

GOOD QUESTIONS.

A few things
to know.

Clear answers, before you press record.

Which Macs can use it?

The current preview download is built for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. The app uses SwiftUI and native macOS frameworks. This download does not include an Intel build.

Does it work offline?

When Apple’s on-device recognition is available for the selected language, Whisper Bro uses it. Some languages or configurations may require Apple’s online speech service. It is not an offline-only app.

The app uses already installed long-form models when available; it doesn’t download speech models itself.

What permissions does it need?

Microphone access captures your voice. Speech Recognition access lets Apple turn it into text. Accessibility access lets the app restore the chosen text field and request a paste.

A first-launch guide walks you through these permissions. You choose what to allow in macOS. Without paste access, you can still copy and paste the result yourself.

Which languages can I choose?

The app currently offers English (Australia, United States, and United Kingdom), French, German, Spanish, and Japanese: seven locale choices across five languages.

Choose one language in Settings before recording. Availability and on-device support depend on your Mac and Apple’s speech resources. There is no automatic language detection or translation.

What happens to my recordings?

Audio is saved locally while the complete recording is transcribed. A successful transcription removes that audio. If processing fails or is interrupted, the original audio stays in the app’s recovery folder. Settings can reveal the last retained recording from the current session.

Text history, dictionary, snippets, and drafts are saved locally. Local storage is not application-level encryption. Apple may process audio online when on-device recognition is unavailable.

Can I keep speaking through pauses?

Yes. Keep holding the shortcut: a pause or a completed live recognition result does not end audio capture. Release to finish. Final transcription uses the saved recording, with a long-form engine or overlapping chunks.

Recognition can still make mistakes. If the app cannot confirm a sufficiently complete result, it skips automatic paste and keeps the audio for recovery.

Is the dictionary AI-powered? Does this use Whisper?

Speech recognition is provided by Apple Speech. The dictionary itself uses case-insensitive, whole-phrase substitutions for the alternative spellings you supply. Preferred names and variants also provide hints to the live and legacy recognizers; the long-form route applies corrections afterward.

It doesn’t infer new phonetic spellings or train a model. Despite the name, Whisper Bro does not use OpenAI’s Whisper, Wispr Flow’s services, or another application’s credentials.

Is this preview signed and notarized?

This is a development preview with an ad-hoc signature. It is not Developer ID signed or notarized, so macOS may prevent it from opening. You can contact Dreem Digital about distribution-ready builds through the company website.
